Planning

Harrogate Borough Council deals with planning applications for properties/land within the Parish, and you should consult the Planning Section of the HBC website for full information. Most applications are sent to the Parish Council for comment as part of the consultation process. These applications are normally discussed at the next meeting of the Parish Council, although in some cases a special site meeting may be arranged.

The Parish Council has no power to make the final decision as to whether to approve or object to a planning application. However it is given the opportunity to listen to comments from residents and to pass these to the Planning Department at Harrogate Borough Council. The council has a legal duty to have regard to the provisions of the development plan and any other material considerations.
